Passionate about engineering solutions that deliver win-win results for our clients and the community

Becker Project Solutions was founded by Caitie Becker in late 2021, in response to a growing need within the Mackay region for an engineering and urban development consultancy that could navigate both legislative complexity and real-world project delivery.

After working alongside Caitie for several years in his role at Mackay Regional Council, Tim Sunner made the move back into consulting. Sharing a common vision and complementary experience, Caitie and Tim joined forces and rebranded the business as BECKER SUNNER CONSULTING.

In late 2024, the team expanded once again with the addition of structural engineering services. With a combined 60 years of experience in the region, Senior Structural Engineers Peter Rosier and John Becker have played a key role in the design and delivery of many of Mackay’s built assets.

  • Caitie Becker

    Principal Engineer | RPEQ

Caitie, a Principal Engineer of Becker Sunner Consulting is an enthusiastic, conscientious and accountable professional with over 15 years of experience in the civil engineering industry.

Caitie has worked as a consultant to the development industry, followed by 6 years within local government in strategic and infrastructure planning, including as Manager Development Engineering.  Her work, both in engineering consultancy and local government gives her unique insight and demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes for clients, stakeholders, and projects as a whole.

In her spare time, Caitie is kept busy running around after two energetic and fast growing boys, and spending time with John, her husband who is also a structural engineer and Director of Becker Sunner Consulting.  They seem to spend most of their weekends at the basketball courts, and always seem to have a home improvement project underway.

  • Tim Sunner

    Principal Engineer | RPEQ

Tim, a Principal Engineer of Becker Sunner Consulting has 20+ years experience across consulting, mining, development management and local government sectors.  With his entire career within the Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday region, he has an extensive local knowledge across a wide range of projects, with an in-depth knowledge of project planning, design requirements, and local government policies.

Prior to starting BSC, Tim was Manager Design Services at Mackay Regional Council, responsible for the delivery of designs for the capital works program, overseeing a team of surveyors, designers, engineers and associated professionals.

On weekends, Tim spends his time with his wife Natalie, the Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning at Whitsunday Anglican School, and their daughters Evelyn and Madeline.  Together they enjoy playing sport and keeping fit, working in their garden, getting out and about in this beautiful region, and planning their next holiday.

  • John Becker

    Senior Structural Engineer | RPEQ

John brings over two decades of structural engineering experience in the Mackay–Isaac–Whitsunday region, joining Becker Sunner Consulting after 16 years with Becker Rosier Engineers. As a Senior Structural Engineer, he brings hands-on expertise and a practical approach to every project.

John thrives on problem-solving onsite, working closely with builders and contractors to tackle the unique challenges that arise during construction. He values seeing projects through from concept to completion—especially those that serve the community day-to-day. Career highlights include the North Mackay Levee, Mackay Harbour Wharf 5 Approach reconstruction, and the construction of the Great Barrier Reef Arena at Harrup Park.

Outside of engineering, John enjoys coaching junior sports teams and always has a DIY project on the go at home.

  • Peter Rosier

    Senior Structural Engineer | RPEQ

With nearly 40 years of structural engineering experience—most of it in the Mackay–Isaac–Whitsunday region—Peter brings deep local knowledge and technical expertise to the BSC team. Prior to joining Becker Sunner Consulting, he spent 16 years as Senior Structural Engineer at Becker Rosier Engineers.

Peter finds real satisfaction in seeing a well-designed structure come to life and takes particular pride in guiding projects from initial concepts through to the fine detail. He’s especially proud of his work on community spaces like the Gordon White and Dudley Denny Libraries—projects that offer lasting value to the region.

Outside of work, Peter enjoys walking and cycling in nature, playing music with friends, and supporting community groups that advocate for better natural and built environments.

  • Ashleigh Christensen

    Civil Designer

Ashleigh brings over a decade of experience in civil design, beginning her career at Mackay Regional Council where she worked on a range of local infrastructure projects. Since joining Becker Sunner Consulting in 2023, she has played a key role in the delivery of all civil design and drafting work across the team’s projects.

Originally drawn to architecture, Ashleigh soon discovered a passion for applying standards and guidelines to solve practical, real-world problems—leading her into civil design. She’s a key part of the support BSC provides to the SEQ Code and enjoys using digital tools to streamline communication, improve workflows, and strengthen project collaboration.

  • Jenna Armstrong

    Structural Project Designer

With 20 years of experience in residential building design, Jenna recently joined Becker Sunner Consulting to provide structural drafting support to Senior Engineers John Becker and Peter Rosier. She also plays a vital role in project coordination across the business, supporting both Principal and Senior Engineers to keep projects running smoothly.

Jenna is passionate about working on projects that others might overlook—bringing a combination of critical thinking and creativity to deliver thoughtful, well-resolved outcomes.

When she’s not at her desk, you’ll likely find her outdoors, exploring the natural beauty of the region with her two young children and her partner, a keen fisherman.

  • Markus Ackerman

    Undergraduate Engineer

Markus is nearing the completion of his engineering degree and first joined Becker Sunner Consulting as a work placement student. He has since become a valued member of the team, providing project support to senior staff across a range of civil and structural projects.

With a strong interest in urban development, Markus is gaining hands-on experience while building a solid foundation for his future career in engineering.

  • Brock Raward

    Undergraduate Engineer

Brock is currently completing his engineering degree while gaining hands-on experience at Becker Sunner Consulting. He supports the team with both project and drafting tasks, with a strong focus on structural drafting.

Balancing work and study, Brock enjoys learning on the job and is steadily developing his technical skills and industry knowledge through real-world application.

I have always enjoyed dealing with Caitie Becker, both when she was working in private practice as a civil engineer and then when she was working at Mackay Regional Council. In my experience, her professional views and ideas have been practical, collaborative and “solutions driven”. Her engineering advice is well communicated and sensible for the real world, in which we are all working and trying to deliver projects in a timely manner.
